How it works
Six plain questions. Clear next steps.

01
Answer six questions
Take them at your own pace. You can go back, change an answer, or start fresh.
- How did they reach you?
- Who do they say they are?
- What do they want you to do?
- Does any of this sound familiar?
- Have you checked another way?
- Have you already done anything?
-
02
Get your next steps
The reasons in your answers to pause, how to check another way, and who to talk to, each with a link to the official guidance behind it.
Copy, print or download them to share with someone you trust.

Already acted? Start here.
A short checklist for what to do now: stop contact, call your bank, keep the messages and receipts, and report it. There is no shame in asking for help.
The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre’s number is right there.
The pause card
Put a pause within reach.
For the fridge, or beside the phone. At Hand makes a simple card with the name and number of the person you’d call first. Print it, save it as a PDF, or leave the spaces blank and fill them in by hand.
Make one for a parent, too.
You don’t
have to
decide now.
- 01Pause. End the call. Leave the message. You can check before you decide.
- 02Check another way. Use the number on your bank card, a number you already know, or an official website you find yourself.
- 03Talk to your person. Ask someone you trust before sending money, sharing a code or giving access to your device.
Private and honest
What At Hand won’t do.
read your messages
You never paste a message or upload a screenshot. You only choose answers.
ask for your details
No bank details, no passwords, no account to make.
keep your answers
They stay on the open page and clear when you close it or refresh. Only your text size, and the CASL member number you entered, are remembered on your device.
guess
No scam scores and no “safe” verdicts. It can’t confirm who someone is, so it helps you check another way.
At Hand is not an emergency or monitoring service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

What CASL Trusted means.
At Hand is a partner app in CASL, the Chamber for the Advancement of Senior Living: a free network of trusted businesses for seniors and families in Toronto and the GTA. Before offering it to members, CASL looked at what At Hand does with your information. It asks for no personal details, sends none of your answers anywhere, and keeps them only on the open page.
CASL Trusted is CASL’s own mark. At Hand is independent, and it isn’t connected to any bank or government agency.
Questions
Good questions.
Is At Hand free?
Yes, for CASL members. CASL membership is free for seniors and families in Toronto and the GTA; enter your member number once and At Hand opens. For everyone else the price is $149 a year, and it isn’t on sale yet.
Will At Hand tell me whether something is a scam?
No. At Hand is a guided checklist, not a scam detector. It shows the warning signs in your answers and practical next steps. It never labels a request safe and it can’t confirm who someone is, so it always points you to checking another way, using a number you already know.
Do I have to paste the message or give my bank details?
No. You only choose answers to six questions. Nothing you choose is uploaded or saved: your answers stay on the open page and clear when you close it or refresh.
What if I already sent money or shared a code?
Stop contact with the person, then contact your bank or payment provider using the number on your card or an official website you find yourself. Keep the messages and receipts, contact local police, and report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 (Monday to Friday, 10 am to 4:45 pm Eastern) or at reportcyberandfraud.canada.ca. Be wary of anyone who asks for a fee to recover your money. At Hand’s Get help screen walks you through these steps.
Can I set it up for my mother or father?
Yes. Print a pause card with your name and number on it, for the fridge or beside the phone, and show them the six questions once so they know where to find them.
Does At Hand work on my phone?
Yes. It runs in the web browser on any phone, tablet or computer, with a switch for larger text. There is nothing to install.
Is At Hand an emergency service?
No. At Hand is not an emergency or monitoring service and it doesn’t call or report anything for you. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
