The plain-language version

Terms of use — written so you can actually read them.

These terms explain what CASL is, what we do and don't do, and what using this website means. No legal maze — just plain words. Effective July 10, 2026.

In short: CASL is a free community membership network in Toronto and the GTA. We connect you with vetted, senior-focused businesses and share general education — we don't give professional advice, and the services you hire are between you and the business you choose. By using this site, you agree to the terms below.

1. What CASL is

CASL — the Chamber for the Advancement of Senior Living — is a free community membership network serving Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. We connect seniors, adult children, and caregivers with vetted, senior-focused businesses, and we share plain-language education about aging, housing, money, and care.

CASL provides connections and education. We are not a law firm, a financial advisor, a medical provider, a real estate brokerage, or a care agency, and we do not provide professional advice of any kind.

2. No professional advice

Everything on this website — articles, guides, videos, podcast episodes, and answers to questions — is general education. It is meant to help you understand your options, not to tell you what to do in your specific situation.

Before you make a legal, financial, medical, or real estate decision, please talk to the relevant licensed professional — a lawyer, a financial advisor, a doctor or nurse, or a licensed realtor — about your own circumstances. What's right for one family may not be right for yours.

3. Our partners are independent businesses

CASL vets its preferred partners in good faith — we look at their senior focus, credentials, and track record before they join the network. But every partner is an independent business, not a branch of CASL.

When you hire a partner, that engagement is between you and the partner. They are responsible for the services they provide, their pricing, their contracts, and their professional standards. CASL is not a party to those services and does not guarantee their outcome.

You are never required to use a CASL partner. Every decision stays with you and your family, and it's always wise to ask your own questions before hiring anyone.

4. Your membership

CASL membership is free. There are no fees, and we never ask for a credit card. Membership benefits — such as partner discounts, events, community lunches, and giveaways — may change over time as the network grows. We may add, adjust, or retire benefits, and we'll always describe the current benefits on this website.

Member giveaways and draws are governed by the rules posted with each giveaway. Entry is always free, no purchase is ever necessary, and draws follow Canadian contest rules, including a skill-testing question for winners.

5. Using this website

We ask that you use this website honestly and respectfully. Please don't:

  • Submit false information in forms, or pretend to be someone you're not.
  • Try to interfere with the site, probe it for weaknesses, or use automated tools to scrape or overload it.
  • Copy our content, logo, or partner materials for commercial use without asking us first.
  • Use the site for anything unlawful.

You're welcome to share links to our pages and print our guides for personal, non-commercial use.

6. Limitation of liability, in plain words

We work hard to keep the information on this site accurate and up to date, but we can't promise it is always complete, current, or error-free. The website and its content are provided "as is."

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CASL is not liable for losses or damages that come from using this website, relying on its content, or from services provided by independent partners. If something goes wrong with a service you hired, your recourse is with the business that provided it.

Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Ontario or Canadian law that cannot be limited by agreement.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time — for example, when we add new benefits or services. When we do, we'll post the updated terms on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Ontario.

8. Questions? Just ask.
