Staying safe online: using AI to protect yourself from scams.
A free digital literacy workshop for seniors at Chartwell Grenadier in Toronto's High Park area, hosted with Connected Canadians. Everyone is welcome, and there is plenty of space.
What you'll learn
- How online scams are changing, and the signs to watch for.
- Practical Google and AI tools that can help you check a message, a call or a website before you act.
- After the talk, one-on-one help with your own phone, tablet or laptop from a Connected Canadians mentor.
What to bring
Your own phone, tablet or laptop, and any technology questions you have.
Who is running it
Chartwell Grenadier is a retirement residence in Toronto's High Park area, and it is hosting the workshop.
Connected Canadians is a national charity that helps older adults build digital skills, with free technology training and support. Its mentors give the one-on-one help after the talk.
CASL is sharing this workshop so more seniors can come. It is run by Chartwell Grenadier and Connected Canadians, not by CASL.
CASL has free tools for this too
At Hand is an app for a second look at a suspicious call, text, email or request for money: six plain questions, then clear next steps.
Scam or Safe? is a game with twelve real looking texts, calls and emails that shows the red flags in each one.
Both are free for CASL members, and membership is free.
