BMO

From age 60: no monthly fee on the Practical Plan chequing account, which includes 12 transactions a month, and $4 a month off the Plus, Performance, Premium and Blue Rewards plans ($12.95 to $8.95, $17.95 to $13.95, $30.95 to $26.95 and $17.95 to $13.95).

The Practical Plan is $4.00 a month for everyone else. On the Plus, Performance and Premium plans the fee is also waived for anyone keeping a minimum daily balance ($3,000, $4,000 or $6,000). BMO's older dedicated Senior Plan is no longer offered to new customers.

CIBC

No monthly account fee on the CIBC Smart Account from age 65, under CIBC Smart for Seniors. The monthly fee is also rebated on the CIBC Everyday Chequing Account, and Interac e-Transfer fees are waived for clients 65 and older.

Eligibility is automatic when you turn 65. The basic account includes 18 transactions a month, with $1.25 for each additional transaction. CIBC also runs a resource centre aimed at clients 60 and over, but the fee waiver itself starts at 65.

Meridian Credit Union (Ontario)

Two dedicated senior chequing accounts from age 60: Senior Everyday Chequing with monthly transactions included and the fee waived on a $2,000 minimum balance, and Senior Unlimited Chequing with unlimited self-serve transactions and the fee waived on a $5,000 minimum balance.

You must be a Meridian member, which means opening a membership share. The package fee applies below the minimum-balance thresholds.

RBC Royal Bank

A Seniors Rebate on the monthly account fee from age 65. RBC Day to Day Banking costs $0 a month for eligible seniors, and other chequing accounts including RBC Advantage Banking and RBC Signature No Limit Banking get a monthly fee rebate.

Applied automatically, with no need to apply. Only one monthly fee rebate applies per account owner, so the Seniors Rebate cannot be stacked with the Value Program Rebate; RBC applies whichever is worth more that month. RBC also publishes a separate 55+ Advantage fee waiver, so it is worth asking which you qualify for.

Scotiabank

An automatic monthly account fee discount from age 60: up to $7 a month on the Ultimate Package and up to $4 a month on other eligible accounts including the Preferred Package. The Basic Banking Account monthly fee of $3.95 is waived for seniors entirely.

Applied automatically to eligible accounts once you are 60. The amount depends on which account or package you hold.

TD Canada Trust

A monthly fee rebate on select chequing accounts from age 60. TD Every Day Chequing drops from $11.95 to $8.20, TD All-Inclusive Banking drops from $30.95 to $22.45, and TD Unlimited Chequing gets a $6 rebate.

You must provide proof of age to confirm eligibility, ideally when the account is opened. A rebate on the TD Minimum Chequing Account is available to seniors receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement. Note that TD's "60 Plus Checking" is an American product and does not apply in Canada.

IRIS Optometrists and Opticians (CARP members)

IRIS Advantage offers for CARP members and their household, all year: $150 off any frame with fully coated prescription lenses valued at $250 or more, or off prescription sunglasses; 50% off the lenses of a second pair of prescription glasses bought the same day; and $50 off non-prescription sunglasses valued at $100 or more.

Every Wednesday. Valid identification must be provided. Applies to regular priced products only, excludes gift cards, and restrictions may apply during certain promotions. Bulk Barn prints the 15% in the graphic on its discount page rather than in the page text; the same page states the Wednesday, the age of 65 and the conditions.

Giant Tiger

10% off before taxes on select products, in store only, on the first Monday of every month, for shoppers aged 60 and over, at select Giant Tiger stores.

Select stores only, so ask your local Giant Tiger whether it takes part before making the trip. In store purchases only, on select products, with the 10% taken off before taxes. If your store is closed on the first Monday, the discount applies on the first Tuesday of that month. Giant Tiger's help centre confirms Seniors Day is for customers aged 60 and over at participating stores.

Michaels

10% off every day, in store and online in Canada, for shoppers aged 55 and over, with valid identification or age verification through the free Michaels Rewards program.

Show valid identification, or complete the age verification in your Michaels Rewards account and give your Rewards phone number at checkout. Limit of one coupon per product and one coupon of each type per day, limited to stock on hand. Michaels' headline says regular and sale price purchases, but its own exclusions list promotional and sale items, so count on it for regular priced items and ask at the till about sale items. Also excluded: the Everyday Value program, clearance, buy and get items, custom framing, balloons and inflation, beverages and candy, books and magazines, rolled posters, classes, birthday parties and private events, gift cards, AURA digital frames, and Cricut, Silhouette, Kodak, Singer, Brother and Elf on the Shelf products. 10% off regular-priced items on the first Tuesday of every month for shoppers aged 55 and over, at RONA and RONA+ stores.

Show photo identification with your date of birth at the register. Limit of 15 units of the same product. Cannot be combined with other offers. A long exclusion list applies: major appliances, electrical wire, water heaters, lawn tractors, construction lumber, shingles, gypsum panels, heating pellets, protection plans, installation, delivery, labour, gift cards, special orders and clearance.

McDonald's Canada

20% off any size Premium Roast coffee or tea for guests 55 and over (65 and over in Quebec).

The clearest official statement of this offer is from a 2022 McDonald's Canada announcement, so treat it as subject to change and ask at the counter. Separately, and open to everyone, McDonald's has been running a $1 small McCafé coffee promise, which may be cheaper than the senior discount on a small.

Tim Hortons

No national senior discount. Individual restaurants may offer one at the manager's discretion, sometimes for limited periods.

Tim Hortons' own help centre states there are no year-round senior offers in the app, and that in-store senior discounts depend on the individual location. Ask at your local restaurant; do not expect it.

Denny's Canada

15% off all regular menu items for guests aged 55 and over, on Thursdays between 2pm and 10pm, plus a dedicated 55+ menu available every day.

The 15% offer is dine-in only, Thursdays 2pm to 10pm, excludes the kids' menu and alcohol, and cannot be combined with other offers. It is not valid at the Nepean, Woodbridge, Brampton and St. Thomas locations, so check before travelling to those. The 55+ menu itself, with items like turkey dinner and fish and chips, is available any day.

IKEA Canada (restaurant)

The 20% off Tuesday meal offer for seniors ended on 31 August 2026 and is not in IKEA Canada's current offers or store events.

Mandarin Restaurant

20% off the buffet for guests aged 65 and over with valid photo identification, offered year-round at Mandarin locations.

Bring photo identification. Prices are subject to change, so confirm with your local Mandarin. Children 5 to 12 eat at half price and children 4 and under are free, two per paying adult, which helps when grandchildren come along.

GO Transit

Seniors aged 65 and over save 55% on GO Transit fares, using a PRESTO card, a GO e-ticket or a paper ticket.

The senior fare type has to be set on your PRESTO card in person, at Union Station or a Customer Service Outlet, after which PRESTO applies the discount automatically.

OC Transpo (Ottawa)

Free travel on all OC Transpo buses and the O-Train every Wednesday and every Sunday for seniors 65 and over, using a PRESTO card set to the senior discount. On other days the senior single ride is $3.28 by PRESTO and the senior monthly pass is $59.75, and seniors with a registered PRESTO card get four free Para Transpo trips a month.

Senior fares must be paid with a PRESTO card and cannot be paid by cash, debit or credit, so there is no longer a cash senior fare. The free Wednesday and Sunday rides do not apply to Para Transpo. You may be asked for proof of age. Set the senior discount on a new or existing PRESTO card at the OC Transpo Customer Service Centre in the Rideau Centre or at a participating Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore or No Frills; there is no fee to set it on a card you already have.

Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)

A senior single fare of $2.25 by PRESTO, debit or credit, against an adult fare of $2.35, or $2.30 in cash against an adult $2.40, for riders aged 65 and over. Monthly fare capping now applies to senior fares: after 47 paid trips in a calendar month with the same payment method, the rest of that month's trips are free.

The TTC Senior Monthly Pass and Senior 12 Month Pass were discontinued on 31 August 2026 and fare capping replaced them, so the old note that the senior pass cost the same as the adult pass no longer applies. You must carry photo identification as proof of age: a driver's licence, an Ontario Photo Card, or an existing TTC Senior's Photo ID, which the TTC no longer issues. The senior fare type has to be added to a new or existing PRESTO card in person at a Shoppers Drug Mart or a participating Customer Service Outlet, with proof of age.

VIA Rail

15% off Economy Plus, Business and Business Plus fares for passengers aged 65 and over, any day of the week, on all VIA Rail routes across Canada, when you book at least 30 days ahead and choose the passenger type Senior (65+). Book by 5 January 2027 for travel between 9 September 2026 and 30 April 2027.

Book at least 30 days in advance and select Senior (65+) as the passenger type; VIA says conditions apply and discounted seats on each train are limited. VIA separately offers CAA members up to 20% off and runs Discount Tuesdays with the code TUESDAY, so compare before you book rather than assuming the senior fare is the cheapest.

York Region Transit

A senior single fare of $2.60 by PRESTO card or PRESTO in a mobile wallet, against an adult PRESTO fare of $4.24 and a $4.65 cash fare, for riders aged 65 and over, plus free travel after 28 paid trips in a calendar month under YRT's fare capping.

These are the fares in force since the increase of 1 July 2026. The $4.65 cash, credit or debit fare is the same for every age group, so the saving only comes with a PRESTO card set to the senior fare type, and fare capping only works with PRESTO. Seniors may also qualify for the Government of Ontario Seniors' Public Transit Tax Credit.

Ontario Northland (Northlander train)

Senior fares for passengers 60 and over on the Northlander train between Toronto and Timmins, about 15% below the adult fare: for example $72.97 against $85.85 one way Timmins to Toronto when booked four or more days ahead.

Fares rise as departure nears, so book early. Proof of age is required. Ontario Northland also lists seniors over 60 among the groups that get discounted fares on its services.

Toronto Island ferry

An older adult round trip ticket of $6.15 for passengers 65 and over, against $9.57 for an adult, and an older adult monthly pass of $90.74 against $121.64.

Tickets are sold online and at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, 9 Queens Quay West. Waits can be long at peak times in summer.

UP Express (Union Pearson Express)

A senior fare of $6.20 one way and $12.40 return between Union Station and Pearson Airport for riders 65 and over, against $12.35 and $24.70 for an adult. Shorter trips are $2.65 to $2.85 one way for seniors against $5.30 to $5.65.

Buy a senior ticket at a vending machine or online, or tap a PRESTO card set to the senior fare type. Carry photo identification.

MiWay (Mississauga)

Seniors 65 and over ride MiWay free with a PRESTO card set to the senior fare type, every day on every route.

Only a PRESTO card set to senior rides free. A card with no fare type set is charged the $3.50 adult single fare, and without PRESTO the cash fare is $4.50. Set the fare type in person with proof of age at the City Centre Transit Terminal, a Mississauga community centre, a GO station or a participating Shoppers Drug Mart. You may be asked to show government identification on the bus.

Brampton Transit

Brampton residents 65 and over ride Brampton Transit free with a Brampton Transit Senior Identification Card and a PRESTO card loaded with the free annual pass.

For Brampton residents. Apply for the Senior Identification Card with proof of age and address, then have the free annual pass loaded onto a PRESTO card. Seniors who live elsewhere pay Brampton Transit’s senior PRESTO fare instead.

Oakville Transit

Seniors 65 and over ride Oakville Transit free, seven days a week, on every route and service including care-A-van and Ride On-Demand, since 1 May 2023.

You must travel with a valid PRESTO card set to the senior fare type and tap on when boarding. A new PRESTO card costs $6 at Town Hall or a participating Shoppers Drug Mart.

Burlington Transit

Seniors 65 and over ride Burlington Transit free at all times.

Free fares apply only when you tap a PRESTO card set to the senior fare type. Change the fare type at the Burlington Transit customer service counter in the Burlington GO Station, any GO station or a participating Shoppers Drug Mart. A $4 fee applies to a new physical PRESTO card.

Durham Region Transit

A senior single fare of $2.53 by PRESTO against $3.84 for an adult, a $55.30 senior monthly PRESTO pass against $138.24, and a $3.55 senior cash fare, for riders 65 and over, since 1 July 2026.

The PRESTO card must be set to the senior fare type. Paying by tapping a debit or credit card charges the adult open-payment fare of $4.85, so use a PRESTO card or exact cash.

Hamilton Street Railway (HSR)

A senior single ride of $2.35 by PRESTO against $2.85 for an adult, a $47.50 senior monthly pass against $125.40, and a $475 senior annual pass, for riders 65 and over. Hamilton residents 80 and over ride free with a Golden Age PRESTO card.

Seniors 65 to 79 need no photo identification but must show proof of age if the driver asks. The Golden Age pass for 80 and over is issued at the HSR Customer Service Centre with proof of age and Hamilton residency. Lower income Hamilton residents can apply for Fare Assist, which halves the senior single ride to $1.18.

Grand River Transit (Waterloo Region)

Free rides one day a week through the Older Adult Day Pass pilot, for adults turning 65 this year and older: unlimited rides that day on GRT buses, ION trains, MobilityPLUS and Kiwanis Transit.

A pilot from 1 July 2026 to 5 January 2027. Download the GRT Pay app, verify your age online or in person, and activate the day pass before you board. A new pass arrives in the app each Wednesday and lasts until the end of service the following Tuesday.

Barrie Transit

A senior fare of $3.00 for riders 65 and over, against $3.50 for an adult, and free rides for seniors 65 and over every Tuesday and Thursday.

Show valid photo identification when you board, on the free days too. The City lists every fare on its own site.

City of Toronto snow clearing

Sidewalk snow clearing is now provided to residents directly by the City as part of regular winter maintenance, covering roughly 98% of Toronto sidewalks, so seniors no longer need to apply for a separate assistance programme.

This covers sidewalks, not your own driveway or private walkway. For private property, community agencies run brokered snow-clearing services for seniors and people with disabilities, usually for an hourly fee, and subsidies are sometimes available. Call 211 Ontario to find an agency near you.

Enbridge Gas (Ontario)

Golden Age Service, free for customers 65 and over: pay your monthly gas bill when your Canada Pension Plan payment arrives, with no late-payment penalty.

Sign in or register on the Enbridge site and set it up under Manage My Account, or call. Note this aligns your due date with your CPP payment; it is not a discount on the gas itself. Enbridge generally does not take security deposits from residential customers anyway, so the directory's framing of a deposit waiver overstates what the programme does.

TELUS Mobility for Good for Seniors

For seniors receiving the Guaranteed Income Supplement: unlimited Canada-wide talk and text with 10GB of data for $25 a month, or 20GB for $35 a month, plus a certified pre-owned smartphone for $0 on a two-year term, or bring your own device, or take $75 off a phone or accessory from Mobile Klinik.

Apply online with details matching your T4A(OAS) document; TELUS reviews applications within about a week and emails a verification code. A companion Internet for Good programme for low-income seniors also exists.

Art Gallery of Ontario

No senior-specific admission rate is currently published. Instead, everyone gets in free on the first Wednesday night of each month, and the AGO Annual Pass at $40 costs only $10 more than one adult single-day ticket at $30, which is the better route for anyone visiting twice.

First Wednesday Night Free runs from 6pm to 9pm, and the AGO asks you to book the free General Admission tickets online in advance to ensure entry. Adult single day admission for 18 and over is $30; the Annual Pass is $40 for unlimited visits for 12 months. Ontarians under 25 get in free all year.

Canadian Museum of History & Canadian War Museum (Ottawa/Gatineau)

Senior admission for visitors aged 65 and over is $23 at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau against $25 for an adult, and $21 at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa against $23 for an adult, with a further 10% off when you book online and a 15% discount on Individual and Family memberships for seniors 65 and over.

Both museums are free for everyone on Thursdays from 5pm to 7pm, on Canada Day, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on 30 September, and on Remembrance Day on 11 November. Children 17 and under are free. The two museums are run by the same institution and each publishes its own senior price.

Royal Ontario Museum

A senior ticket on general admission, priced under the ROM's Plan Ahead Pricing, so the price changes with the date you visit and is lower the earlier you book. Everyone gets in free on the third Tuesday of every month from 4pm to 8:30pm, and arriving by PRESTO or GO Transit gets 15% off regular admission.

Prices for each date are on the ROM ticketing calendar, and buying at least a day ahead is always cheaper than paying on the day. The ROM's pricing pages do not state the qualifying age for the senior ticket, so check the calendar or ask at the admissions desk. Third Tuesday Nights Free need an advance reservation, released two weeks before, and exclude special exhibitions. The source directory's flat 8% off no longer describes how the ROM prices admission.

Gardiner Museum (Toronto)

A senior admission of $14 for visitors 65 and over, against $18 for an adult. Admission is free for everyone on Wednesdays after 4pm.

Buy tickets online or at the front desk; a ticket bought online is good for the whole day. Visitors 18 and under and students with ID are free.

Bata Shoe Museum (Toronto)

A seniors ticket of $12, against $16 for an adult. Admission is free for everyone on Sundays.

The museum does not state the age for its seniors ticket on its admission page, so ask when you buy. Tickets are sold online through ShowPass. Open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday noon to 5pm.

Textile Museum of Canada (Toronto)

A seniors ticket of $13 for visitors 65 and over, against $15 for an adult.

Canadian Museum of Nature (Ottawa)

A senior daytime admission of $19 for visitors 65 and over, against $26 for an adult.

This is the daytime general admission. Children 3 to 12 and students 13 and over also pay $19, and children 2 and under are free. The museum lists all its fees on its own site.

Cineplex

A senior admission price on regular tickets, cheaper than general admission.

The price varies from theatre to theatre, so check your local Cineplex listing. Separately, and open to everyone rather than seniors only, Cineplex runs discounted Tuesday pricing which is often the cheapest way to see a film.

Landmark Cinemas

Senior's Day every Monday: 20% off the senior admission price and 20% off concession, for seniors aged 65 and over.

Mondays only, and valid on new releases only. Surcharges still apply for premium formats including RealD 3D, Laser Ultra, EXTRA, XTREME, IMAX and Premiere Seating. Base prices vary by location, so check your local cinema.

Parks Canada

A senior Discovery Pass at $71.50 for visitors aged 65 and over, against $83.50 for an adult, covering admission to more than 80 Parks Canada places for 12 months, plus a lower senior rate on daily admission at every site, for example $8.75 against $10.00 at Bruce Peninsula National Park and $8.50 against $10.00 at Bethune Memorial House in Gravenhurst.

Youth 17 and under are free everywhere. A family or group Discovery Pass for up to seven people in one vehicle is $167.50, which beats two senior passes. Regular fees apply again from 8 September 2026, after the Canada Strong Pass free admission period ended on 7 September 2026. Daily rates differ by site and are on each site's own fees page.

City of Toronto recreation programs

Older adults 60 and over get 50% off the fee for City of Toronto adult registered recreation programs, such as fitness classes, swimming and arts.

Private, semi-private and small group lessons are not included. The City also runs free drop-in programs for older adults and free recreation centres, and the Welcome Policy subsidy for residents on a low income.

Black Creek Pioneer Village (Toronto)

A senior general admission of $16.35 plus HST for visitors 65 and over, against $20.40 plus HST for an adult.

Open for self guided visits Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 4pm, from 25 April to 23 December. Specially ticketed events and programs have their own prices.

Ontario Parks

Ontario residents 65 and over pay a reduced daily vehicle permit of $9.75 to $16.75 depending on the park, against $12.25 to $21.00, and about 20% less for camping: for example $47.46 a night for an electrical site at the top fee level against $59.33.

Fees shown are for 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. You must show proof of age and Ontario residency. The senior camping rate covers the senior and their spouse and the others sharing the same campsite.

Ontario fishing licence

Ontario and Canadian residents 65 and over do not need to buy an Outdoors Card or a fishing licence to fish in Ontario.

Carry government issued identification showing your name and date of birth whenever you fish, and follow the catch and possession limits that apply to a sport fishing licence. Non-residents of Canada still need a licence at any age.

Toronto Zoo

A senior admission of $38 for visitors 65 and over, against $45 for an adult, in peak season.

Prices are the Zoo’s peak season general admission. Off season prices are lower for everyone.

A senior garden admission of $16.50 for visitors 65 and over, against $19.50 for an adult.

Prices are before HST and a $2 online service fee. RBG counts a senior as 65 and over.
