Applefun Puppetry — Respectful, high quality service for CASL members.

Puppet making workshops for seniors' residences and community groups across the GTA

Applefun Puppetry is a home based puppetry business in Brampton that has been performing throughout Ontario since 1997. In their own words, it offers engaging, hands on puppet sewing workshops for seniors' residences, retirement communities and community organizations, which give participants an opportunity to learn new skills, express themselves artistically and enjoy a fun and social experience while making their own puppets.

Their workshop flyer for seniors describes a one hour session in which participants work alongside a professional puppeteer to create their own puppets, a stage and a story from readily available materials, in a teaching environment that is, in their words, relaxed, encouraging, inclusive and respectful. Confidence builds through practice and a few puppeteering tips, and then everyone has the chance to perform for the group. The flyer lists outcomes such as building confidence, an outlet for creativity and expression, and a new way to engage with the community.

For families, Applefun also performs interactive puppet shows for children, with programs for ages 2 to 9 and shows for the seasons and holidays, and each of the five programs on their flyer ends with everyone learning to make a paper puppet to take home.
