Victorian Reno is an architect-led renovation company based in Etobicoke. One team handles the design, the permits and the construction, so the plans drawn are the plans built. They renovate kitchens, bathrooms, basements and condos, build additions, and take on whole homes.

Their ageing in place work looks at how you move through the house, not just one room: curbless showers with nothing to step over, blocking inside the walls so grab bars can go up later, slip resistant tile, better lighting with switches at both ends of a hallway, a bedroom or full bathroom on the main floor, laundry brought up from the basement, and kitchens with drawers instead of low cupboards. Sometimes, they say, better lighting matters more this year than a new bathroom.

Every project has a written contract and a fixed price agreed before work starts, a warranty of at least two years, and $5 million in insurance coverage. They also explain which tax credits may apply to the work and what you need to claim them.
