Getting around
On Milton Transit, riders 65 and over pay $4.25 cash, $2.55 for a single-use e-ticket in the Token Transit app, $26 for 10 rides or $62 for an unlimited monthly pass. Through Halton Region’s SPLIT program, which Milton Transit matches, eligible lower income residents can have their full transit costs covered. Read the Town’s page.
Milton access+ is the door-to-door accessible service for people whose disability stops them using regular transit reliably; you and a health care professional sign the application. To book or ask about the service, call 905-875-5417. Read about access+.
More: transportation for seniors, including the free accessible parking permit and renewing a licence at 80.
Programs and activities
The Town’s Milton Seniors Activity Centre, 500 Childs Drive, has fitness programs, games, guest speakers, special events and workshops, and community meals in season. Call 905-864-4132. Read the Town’s page.
Help with money
Halton Region’s Older Adults Property Tax Deferral Program lets homeowners 65 and over defer their whole property tax bill, interest free, if the owners’ combined income is under $69,500, it is their only property in Halton and they have lived in it for the last four years. A one-time $200 fee is added, and the taxes are repaid when the home is sold or the deferral ends. Apply at your Town or City Hall by September 30 each year (Milton: 905-864-4142); the 2026 period has closed, and the next form is expected in spring 2027. You can’t be in another deferral or rebate program at the same time. Read the Region’s page.
Milton also lets low income seniors and people with disabilities defer increases in their property tax; apply at Town Hall, 150 Mary Street. Read the Town’s page.
Ontario’s Senior Homeowners’ Property Tax Grant helps homeowners 64 and over with low to moderate income, and is claimed on your tax return; our benefits checklist explains it.
